Byala town - information about
the area |
|
|
|
Situated on the beautiful
Black Sea coast, with a population of 2330
people, the town of Byala is a small
traditional Bulgarian settlement. Famous for
crystal blue sea and sandy beaches, and its
thriving wine industry, Byala is becoming
much sough after residential area. Only 50
km. south from the Bulgarian Sea capital
Varna and lying just 75 km north of the town
of Burgas, its panoramic views make it the
perfect spot for a flexible holiday or for
wise investors. |
|
Founded in the 3rd century, Byala has
interesting history. Remains of an
ancient fortress can still be viewed and
the historical white cliffs (hence the
name Byala, “white”) that surround the
secluded sandy beach have been found to
contain dinosaur remains. Once there was
an ancient Greek fortress, named Aspro,
in the neighbourhood. Before the
reunification of the Bulgarian state in
1885, the border between the Bulgarian
Principality and Eastern Rumeliya passed
through the town of the Byala.
Only 5 km away lies Obzor a nice coastal
town that is suitable for days or night
trip. At the coast, one can see a
protective bank, dating back to the
early years of the Bulgarian state
(8th-10th century), while the area
around the St Atanas Monastery holds
remains of an ancient fortress. The wine
of the extremely fine Dimyat vintage is
also produced in the village. There is a
nice and sweeping view to the sea and
the neighborhood.
It also boasts an impressive setting
atop bluffs that end abruptly at the
water’s edge. Stairs lead down to a
secluded beach that curves north toward
rocky Cape Atanas. To the south, another
promontory separates the small sandy
strip from the beach at Obzor. Bjala
with its favorable conditions – crystal
sea water, sandy beach and a forest –
offers wonderful opportunities for
recreation.
Besides numerous small pubs and
restaurants, the wonderful roadside
Jackson Restaurant can be found to the
north on the road to Staro Oryahovo. One
can also take a ride or a walk to Obzor,
which is just 5km away, for fun,
shopping or outdoor food.
Transport is readily available with
regular buses to Varna and private
taxis. The village is famous and well
developed with a few local shops, a nice
Church. A long beautiful wide curved
sandy beach borders the bay of Byala.
The waters close to the shore are
crystal clear and great for family
bathing. It is an excellent beach resort
where you can spend the best vacation
with your family!
